This reporter work day provides advance opportunity for journalists to gather color for preview and event stories, take site pictures and B-roll, and nail down logistics for covering the Philadelphia leg of the papal visit. Choose between “The Big Picture” papal visit tour or the “Local Flavor” Philadelphia Catholic life tour.
TOUR #1: The Big Picture
- 10 a.m. — Depart Loews Hotel
- 10:10 a.m. — Self-guided tour Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter & Paul (Mass held at 9:30 and 11)
- 11:10 a.m. — Bus departs for Philadelphia Museum of Art (self-guided exterior tour)
- 12:10 p.m. — Bus departs for Archdiocese of Philadelphia
- 12:30 p.m. — Lunch and World Meeting of Families Presentation with Q&A at Archdiocese of Philadelphia
- 1:40 p.m. — Depart Archdiocese
- 1:50 p.m. — Optional: bus drops off at Independence Hall, self-guided tour, walk back to Loews Hotel (.7 m)
- 2 p.m. — Bus arrives at Loews Hotel, conference concludes
TOUR #2: Local Flavor
- 10 a.m. — Depart Loews hotel
- 10:30 a.m. — Self-guided tour at the National Shrine of Saint John Neumann at St. Peter the Apostle
- 11 a.m. — Spanish language Mass at Saint Peter the Apostle
- 12:10 p.m. — Depart Saint Peter the Apostle
- 12:30 p.m. — Lunch and World Meeting of Families Presentation with Q&A at Archdiocese of Philadelphia
- 1:40 p.m. — Depart Archdiocese
- 1:50 p.m. — Optional: bus drops off at Independence Hall, self-guided tour, walk back to Loews Hotel (.7 m)

Notes:
- All tour stops are self-guided.
- Mass will be in session at the Basilica at 9:30 and 11 a.m., with our stop nestled between those two times.
- The Philadelphia Museum of Art carries an admission fee of $20 for anyone who wishes to go in during the brief tour stop. Otherwise, time will be spent visiting the “Rocky” steps just outside and gathering color.
- While returning to the hotel, attendees can take advantage of an optional drop off at Independence Hall. Anyone who wishes to take a tour can obtain a free ticket (Info via reservations website).
